It is hard to believe that I started this blog 1 year ago today. Back then it was on TruthScape (now RuneScoop) in the Forum Community. I was starting to lose interest in RS2 for some time by then(starting about the time I joined TruthScape in early 08, ironically) I would spend most of my time in the bank not sure what to do. I had from some time back in late 05 had a RSC account except on one
occasion had done no more then make sure I could still log in (stupid 6 month rule...). It was time to dust off my RSC character. With so few people having access to RSC and several people at TruthScape wishing they could play RSC I decided to blog my adventures.
The blog was then only a "What I did today" type of blog. The first 2 days was just me doing a grand tour of RSC. I wanted to get not only me familiar with the layout of RSC (Yes, yes, I know there isn't that much difference between RS2 and RSC at least in area that they both share)but also those that would become readers of my blog. Looking back I can laugh at some of the stupid things I did:
I looked around town and went into the Ardy castle and tried going upstairs. One of the paladins was not happy and killed me.(wonder whats up there??) it was my first death too

o well had to happen sooner or later lost the wooden shield
did keep the bronze long sword and sleeping bag and promptly sold the goblin armor I had.
I tried today going into the Taverley dungeon[WAIC HINT hehe]... BIIIIIG mistake that's where I nearly lost the ore).
I was so noobish with that ore I
KNEW better. The Ardy castle I had NOOO idea that would happen...
Day 3 was the day I did my first quest and I decided to do
Cook's Assistant because Jagex counts it as the first quest(even though several were released at the same time...). I had never used a vid recording software before and it showed (I used Camstudio at the time) I would lose parts of
Sheep Shearer and most of
Witch's Potion to Camstudio freezing up. I would stitch permanently to hypercam 2 starting on day 5 with
Romeo and JulietDay 7 was the first request day. The idea for it started I think when Da_Dragon555 asked between days 2 and 3 if I could get some pictures of various RSC Dragons and Demons. However I wouldn't do that until a later request day as I forgot about it when I first asked for requests. I've been doing Request Days every 7 days ever since. I felt that it necessary as the original purpose of blogging was to give others a chance to play RSC.(Though that will likely change the anticipated re-release of RSC) Around the same time I decided to get the blog out there with the popularity of the blog at Truthscape I decided to get a offsite blog going which is this site. From then on (after I got the other entries posted) I would try and post here as well as the blogs forum home with in moments of each other(TruthScape and then later MechScapeWorld)
RuneScape Classic Heads(now RuneClassic Heads) debuted on my blog on Christmas Eve.
I figured I would do a comic for fun. It was so much fun that it continues to this day.
The next day was my first non playing day blog entries: I went into RSC and did Christmas carols. A week later I changed the name of the comic from RuneScape Classic Heads to RuneClassic Heads.
January mark the first of several hiatus that would plague the blog in January and then in April and May bringing the blog down to only about 3 actual entries each during those months.
In
February I adding an author to help in research, ideas, etc.: Metallian. His only real contribution to the blog would occur in February with the addition of a new feature:" Fact Sheets(currently at 3) Fact sheet #1 cover some random fact a rs2 player may not know about RSC. When I added him as author I found out about the RSC RSOF and gained access to it promising blog readers that I would watch the forums for anything interesting pertaining to RSC. With 2 new features in one month the blog was becoming more then a simple "what I did" blog to a blog centered on
informative articles and videos, comics, "What I did today"(aka Blog Days), and up to date information on the RSC game and community.March marked some major shake ups in RSC and a turning point for this blog. The announcement of a RSC Cape and the possibility of RSC reopening sent shock waves throughout not only the RSC community but RS2. Because of one of my posted on reopening I would find myself in the dark world of private servers for the first time.
Vaskor from
Runescape Reader's Digest would discover my blog and would on occasion make a post about one of my posts increasing my readership greatly. I don't think the blog have would lasted without him.
May would see in end of active updating on Truthscape and the blog would not have a forum home until MechScapeWorld in early June. An addition of a blog IRC channel(with no chat at the time between RS2 and RSC it got lonely at times). Fact Sheet #2 on the RSC timeline would be released as well.
My first interview was with Ore Sabre in late
June and I made some rookie interviewer mistakes... Actually the major mistake that month occurred when I discovered that I had been spreading a falsity for quite some time, which to say the least was embarrassing. I devoted a blog post apologizing for the error:
The "Pitfall" of Being a HistorianJuly saw the addition of polls the current one being: How long have you been reading this blog?
As well as the first in what have been many updates to RSC to prepare for the re-release.
August was a very active month for this blog with entries all over the map
- I finally had some legit RSC blog company when Cremeans0/Dr Cremeans started his own blog on RSC.
- Icey Dan1 did a vid on RS blogging interviewing me and Vaskor (the vid increased not only my readership but help inspire many to start blogs of their own) releasing it in Sept...
- Crossed the one month of playing RSC mark
Sept saw a major update related to the RSC re-releasing: the idea of rented private servers.
In
October RSC to RS2 chat is restored as well as bank and store interface updates breaking bot programs. I added Lady Riddel/Nel Espada 3 as an author with hopes that the 3rd time would be the charm. Her first post indicated that the RSC fact sheets could be retired.
November: With the unexpected 2 week reopening of RSC,
Forever RSC a RSC fansite is launched.
If you want to know how I'm celebrating I'm taking a day of all RS related activities(except to check comments here)
Part 2 of the celebration and the continuing look back at 1 year of this blog will be posted tomorrow.
